Found a recipe for a perfume stick. And since I have lots of ingredients, this may be something to try.

Fingers crossed it works out.

I will post results 🙂

Aaaaahhh… Vapor Pucks recipe!

Published September 22, 2013 by rumbl3

I saw a commercial for www.amazon.com/SudaCare-Soothers-Vaporizing-Tablets-tablets/dp/B0009RF9S2 awhile back. Had they been a little more affordable (7 tablets/ around $11), I probably would’ve tried them. But being the thrifty one, they just weren’t in my budget.

I searched around and found a recipe for homemade ones. I tweaked the recipe a bit and came up with:

  • 1 c. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. water (may take a little more to reach pancake batter consistency)
  • 20 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
  •  8 drops Lavender Essential Oil

Bake at 350* for 20 minutes.

Toss 1 puck into your warm shower (careful not to step and slip on it) to release the smells. Yum!

Put baking soda in a medium sized bowl. Add 1/2 the water and mix. Keep adding and mixing water until you reach a pancake batter consistency.

Add your oil drops.

Line your cupcake pan with paper liners.

Add 1 heaping tbs. per liner. And bake. When checking to see if they’re done, notice the cupcake liner. Does it still look damp? If it does, give it a few more minutes. If you try pulling out the liner while a damp ring is just above the “batter” level, it will tear when attempting to remove.

My first attempt happened just like that ^^^. I had to use a fork to lift them out and came out with chips instead of pucks. Didn’t matter, they still worked. I just tossed 3-4 pieces in the bottom of my warm shower.

The smells released are marvelous! And the eucalyptus really opened up my sinuses.

Good luck!

Hand Sanitizer in a jiffy!

Published August 22, 2013 by rumbl3

I am… one of those people. I love using hand sanitizer on occasion. Here is a simple recipe:

2/3 cup rubbing alcohol
1/3 cup aloe vera gel
5-8 drops essential oil, optional

1 bottle of rubbing alcohol and 1 bottle of aloe vera gel will make lots of hand sanitizer. If you add the essential oil drops, yours will smell better than any in the stores (and cheaper!).

Mmmm… An easy-to-make Sugar Scrub recipe

Published August 13, 2013 by rumbl3
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1/8 c. coconut oil
  • Peppermint Essential Oil to your liking

That is all you need to make a delicious Mint Sugar Scrub.

Edit- I melted the coconut oil in microwave for 20 seconds prior to adding it to sugar. Mixes awesome!

After mixing thoroughly, scoop into a 10 oz. + jar with lid.

To use: Using fingertips, “paint” scrub all over face and neck. After face is completely covered, you can leave on for 10 minutes for a mask or using a wet washcloth, in circular motions wash the scrub off face and neck.

I tried this. My skin is very soft and creamy feeling. The after- doesn’t feel oily or waxy.

THIS RECIPE: A

fyi- You do not need to order the coconut oil online (I did). Walmart carries coconut oil in the cooking spice aisle for a very reasonable price. I believe it was less than $6 for a good size container.

Lip Balm recipe #2

Published August 9, 2013 by rumbl3

Here is the recipe for a Lip Balm I tried making yesterday.

Kool Aid Lip Balm:

1 tbs. Beeswax beads

4 tbs. Coconut Oil

4 tbs. Petroleum Jelly

Kool-Aid for flavor/tint

Heat in microwave for 45 sec.

My results: 45 secs. was not enough to melt the wax beads. Also, the Kool Aid did NOT flavor/tint very well. After about 75 secs., I swapped over to double boiler until the wax melted. Worked better. After putting in tubes and cooling- I tried it on my lips. It is not hard enough- it sort of turns to goo when applying. And the Kool Aid remains gritty. Might be fixable by cutting the petroleum jelly in 1/2.

My rating: C–

Not very good 😦
